The Beard Brother's Story

LFFAC took in two young kittens, Simon and Samantha, who were born on a property north of Longmont in the fall of 2021. The kittens were born in an old tree but emerged with mom when it was time for them to be weaned. Simon and Samantha were trapped and taken into our Socialization Program to be tamed and were adopted early in 2022. Mom went through our TNR (trap, neuter, return) Program and retired from having babies.

We received a call from the new owners of the property later in 2022, asking for help with two kittens, the Beard Bros., who were reared in the same tree. Their mom was nowhere to be found. One of LFFAC’s foster moms, Jami, took in the two boys, and has done a fabulous job socializing them. With Jami’s skilled care, Black Beard and White Beard have learned that living in a human home with a loving family can be pretty special.

Both of the Beard Bros are big guys with lots of energy. White Beard, the more social of the two, loves to be picked up and cuddled, then purrs on high volume. He enjoys hanging out in the same room as Jami. He follows her from room to room or sleeps on his cat tree while she works. He spends part of every night snuggling behind her knees.

Black Beard is more reserved. He isn’t excited about being picked up, but purrs loudly when he gets pets and tickles, like his brother does. He also enjoys hanging out on the cat tree with his brother while Jami works. He is playful, loves to carry toys in his mouth, and is a “talker”.

The brothers love being together, playing, and watching birds and squirrels from their cat tree. They are looking for a loving family that will keep these best buds together.
