LFFAC Programs

What We Do

LFFAC offers compassionate, community-centered services for feral and semi-feral cat colonies. Our programs are designed to stabilize populations, improve welfare, and, when possible, connect cats with loving homes. Our core programs include Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), Cat Socialization, Colony Management, Foster Care, Adoptions, and Community Education.

Our Programs at a Glance

Each program is designed to work together to reduce suffering, prevent new litters, and create healthier, safer environments for both cats and the communities they share.

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)

What TNR Is

A humane, proven method to stabilize and gradually reduce the local cat population by removing reproduction opportunities, managing health, and returning cats to their outdoor homes.

How TNR Works

  • Humane trapping by trained volunteers or staff
  • Spaying or neutering by a licensed veterinarian
  • Ear tipping for clear identification of sterilized cats
  • Post-surgical care and vaccination, as resources allow
  • Safe return to the outdoor home with a plan for ongoing care

Why TNR

  • Reduces the number of kittens born into outdoor environments
  • Diminishes nuisance behaviors (yelling, roaming, fighting) as cats are sterilized
  • Improves overall health and quality of life for community cats
  • Builds a foundation for long-term population stability in collaboration with property owners and neighbors

TNR Process

  • Preliminary site assessment and consent from property caretakers
  • Scheduling and humane handling with minimal stress to cats
  • Post-release monitoring and ongoing community education
  • Opportunities to observe health improvements in the colony over time

Safety & Compliance

  • All procedures adhere to humane standards and local regulations
  • We prioritize welfare, minimize stress, and ensure clean, ethical practices
  • Data and census records help track progress and guide future actions

Cat Socialization

  • This program is currently under development to meet our local needs.

Colony Management

Why It Matters

A coordinated approach helps colonies thrive, minimizes conflicts, and supports successful TNR, Socialization, and Adoptions.

Core Activities

  • Colony census and population monitoring
  • Identification and care for new arrivals (neutering, vaccination where feasible)
  • Safe feeding strategies and shelter for harsh weather
  • Environmental enrichment to reduce stress and conflicts
  • Collaboration with property owners, caregivers, and neighbors
  • Record-keeping and data management to guide decisions

Our Commitment

  • Respectful, non-judgmental engagement with property owners and caregivers
  • Transparent communication about goals, timelines, and expected outcomes
  • Ongoing assessment to ensure humane care and conservation of resources
